Meet Nora

As a young wife and mom of two, Nora was living a family—first life full of outdoor adventures and endless activity. But after being diagnosed with a serious heart condition and accompanying ablation at another facility, that life was put on hold for years with problem after problem, from passing out while simply playing with her children to recurrent hospital visits. Her health crises reached their peak one scary day when her heart rate skyrocketed and then plummeted, landing her in the Buffalo General Medical Center Emergency Department. From there, our team at Gates Vascular Institute (GVI) took over her care and worked to first save her life, and then help her get back to normal. She credits their care, and their placement of a pacemaker, with her recovery and start of a new life. Along the way, a supportive staff—from receptionists to nurses to her surgeon—made her feel comfortable, respected and confident in her care. Today, Nora is most excited about the energy she has to keep up with her kids and her goals, from hitting the hiking trails to practicing soccer with her son and daughter.
